I’m turning 30! Can’t believe it. Two words to describe my life right now: grateful and juggling. Juggling life as a new mom, as a new wife, and as a new business owner. I have two horses who I don’t get to ride very often anymore, but they are my true center. If I ever need a break from the world I go to them, they make everything better.

I live in Los Feliz on the flats in a super walkable area with lots of life and people around all the time. We have a home in Big Bear that I like to escape to as well (notice the escape theme here).  It’s easy for me to be a little yang with my energy expenditure — so I have to physically remove myself from the city and go to the country to feel like I can relax!

I get a lot of my inspo from Instagram. I love scrolling for beautiful recipes and using a combination of them to create something incredible to offer on our menu. It’s definitely something I look to for inspiration and not comparison.

WHAT

Twenty-Five Eight is a beyond-organic meal and snack delivery service for moms of all stages. Mothers are on duty twenty-five hours a day, eight days a week.  They need to feel supported, loved appreciated and understood. It goes beyond just giving the gift of food. Our meals are symbolic for the support, love and understanding to sustain the long nights and endless days of nurturing our beautiful children.

WHEN

When I was pregnant with my son, I had the worst food aversions. I couldn’t even go into the kitchen or smell a heated pan without wanting to vomit.  This presented a huge dilemma – not only could I not cook for myself, but there were no services or restaurants up to my (admittedly) ridiculous standards for quality of food and ingredients and that also lacked hydrogenated oils, refined sugars, “excess,” etc. Before I became pregnant, I always dreamed of opening a meal delivery service, but this experience made it evident that no one was talking to ME as a mother or helping us nurture ourselves and our unborn children (or earth side children, which I now firmly believe matters even more than it did during pregnancy).

 

With Twenty-Five Eight, I sought to solve this problem and give moms of all stages nourishing meals. Initially, I was cooking from my home, much like a friend or “village” would come together and prepare meals for mom. Eventually, we shifted to a commercial kitchen, and we are now also able to ship to multiple states.

WHY

Twenty-Five Eight nourishes and supports moms in their most vulnerable moments not only with nutrition and nourishment, but with love, support and kindness. For months, I consulted with a naturopathic physician in Germany to create the framework for our meals, and our standards currently in place are a reflection of this time.

 

We use beyond organic, seasonal and local ingredients, and our meals never contain refined sugar, gluten, dairy (except grass-fed ghee) or GMOs. We use 100% pastured animal products, and all of our meat is sourced from Diamond Mountain Ranch in Northern California. They have the purest practices, using small processing facilities with the least environmental impact and are obsessed with the quality and humane treatment of their animals. Our produce comes from places like Apricot Lane Farms, Frecker Farms, The Garden of Organic Farm and others. We use only spring water in our broths, soups and drinks/teas and never use aluminum for cooking, just stainless steel so there is no heavy metal transfer.  We use unbleached parchment paper, and silicone baking trays, etc.

FAVORITE

It would have to be our flatbreads; we make our own sweet potato crust out of three simple ingredients.  The simplicity of the flatbread combined with the amazing nut cheese spread, seasonal roasted vegetables and pastured meat never ceases to impress. A close second are our breakfast options. Overnight oats are super simple but so nice to have on hand.  You can grab and eat straight out of the fridge, and they are loaded with superfoods and amazingness to help you feel fueled and ready to rock. That being said, the treats – particularly the cookie dough bars and the almond butter bites + grass fed collagen – are a huge favorite with our mamas.
