The Kaia Method Transforms and Heals Your Body Through Dance

I’m Hannah Blake, and embodiment is my truth. Our minds are incredible tools, but when we’re living in the sole isolated experience of the brain, we find that it rationalizes, confuses, contorts and distorts. When we drop into our bodies however, we find the seat of presence, the seat of truth, and the seat of wisdom.
First and foremost, my inspirations are the forest, the mountains and the ocean. They humble me. They hold simple but vast wisdom that reminds me how to live in integrity and flow. I am inspired by people who commit their lives to the betterment of all-beings, including the earth. I am inspired by Jane Goodall. I am inspired by the way parents gaze at their newborn children. I am inspired by how my parents raised me, despite all struggle, they both put me first. I am inspired by people who donate “anonymously”. I am inspired by my partner when he smiles from his soul. I am inspired to know that my eyes see his smile differently than anyone else's in the world. I am inspired when I witness someone in my class dance up the courage to let go of a burden that’s wounded them for lifetimes.
I could go on and on, as inspiration is everywhere. We just have to open our hearts to let it in.
I consider myself a global citizen, as I spend more time traveling than in one place. I am most rooted, however, in Lake Tahoe, NV with deep connections in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York City and New Zealand.
The Kaia Method is an exploration of the body as the subconscious mind. It works directly with the body’s energy systems, and through unique dance sequencing, meditation and visualization, locates and moves stagnation and cellular trauma within the body’s meridians and chakras. This catalyzes profound healing and transformation, while taking us into flow states of consciousness. The three pillars of Kaia are to transmute trauma, expand consciousness and build community.
Transmuting Trauma - Memory is stored, not just in the mind, but in the cells of our bodies, on a neuropeptide level. Thus, in order to completely move through traumas, we must listen to, access and move them through the body itself.
Expanding Consciousness - Kaia embodiment shifts our brain waves from beta over-thinking to deeper alpha and theta states of creativity, empathy and transcendence.
Building Community - Kaia creates the space for connection to self, and others, at the level far beyond the mind.
Kaia is a uniting of numerous dance, personal healing, spiritual, and academic journeys:
At age 16, I traveled to Oman alongside my mentor Debbie Allen, sponsored by the Obama Administration. There, we bridged gaps between Omani and American cultures through dance. This changed my perception about the art form. For me, dance was no longer about performing - it became a catalyst for personal and collective transformation.
I studied World Arts and Cultures, Psycho-Biology and Art Therapy at UCLA. When studying the body as the subconscious mind and how memory is stored in our cells on a neuropeptide level, while immersing myself in a world of arts activism and therapy, massive light bulbs began to light up. I started to flesh out the method beyond cultural bridging.
I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. This was a massive gift into learning my body more deeply than ever before. I was able to test the method on myself and fully heal.
The Kaia Method is unique because everybody and every soul is unique. Kaia inherently understands and supports this. It is your one-stop-shop for holistic health - body, mind and spirit all in one place, all in one class. And it’s not a place for someone else to heal you. It’s a place for you to heal yourself.
The privilege to witness people’s transformation - people’s return home to themselves.
