Pureosophy Helps You Use Less Plastic With Eco-Friendly, Everyday Essentials

Lea Horsholt, Founder of Pureosophy

My name is Lea and I am currently based in Denmark where I run my online store, Pureosophy. I have always wanted to start my own business so when I came up with the idea to combine my dream with my passion for sustainability, I knew that it was what I had to do!

I'm a big fan of yoga, aesthetically pleasing places and things, calm surroundings and healthy cooking. I find all of those things truly inspiring and they are important for me to implement in my week to get new ideas for my business and energy for my day-to-day life.

Pureosophy (a word combined by the two words 'pure' and 'philosophy') is an eco-friendly brand and online store that helps you use less plastic in your everyday life and live more environmentally friendly. The online store is filled with high quality lifestyle and personal care products that have minimalistic and long lasting designs.

Pureosophy was founded a little under a year ago after I returned home from a lovely trip to Bali. While I was there I noticed how many cafés and restaurants used a lot of alternatives to plastic products like biodegradable or reusable straws and shopping bags but at the same time how piles of plastic and waste filled the streets and beaches. The huge contrast made a big impact on me and as I am a strong believer in that small steps matter, I knew I needed to do everything I could to bring awareness to the problem and make plastic-free solutions available to more people.

I had been aware of my own plastic consumption and amount of waste for a long time but the trip really opened my eyes and from there, it all snowballed into what is my full-time job today - my own eco brand and online store, Pureosophy.

I focus on offering high quality products at affordable prices as I think most people possible should have the opportunity to live more eco-friendly.

When I started Pureosophy there wasn't a very wide selection of online stores and stores in general that focused on sustainable and plastic free lifestyle products that were both ethically and sustainably made while also replacing the plastic products many people use every single day.

As consumers, we have the power to change things by choosing carefully what we spend our money on. Every time we buy a product, we support the brand, their products, their values, the packaging etc, so by being a conscious consumer and choosing ethically made and sustainable products over single use and disposable products you can make a huge difference.

I created Pureosophy because I want to help people make a change. I focus on offering high quality products at affordable prices as I think most people possible should have the opportunity to live more eco-friendly.

This is a hard question as I put my heart and soul into only creating products I truly love, but if I have to choose, I think my favorite product must be the organic cotton 'not a plastic bag' shopping bag. I love it as the bag itself is super durable, spacious and handy but also because it sends an important message! This bag has actually been a great conversation starter with many strangers and that's what I love most about it - it helps spread the word and hopefully it inspires others to live a more eco-friendly lifestyle.

I always do my absolute best to ensure that my products are ethically and sustainably made and I have searched high and low to find the best manufacturers all over the world that meet my requirements and match my values. It’s important to me that I have a good, transparent and more personal relationship with my suppliers, which is also why I choose to work with many smaller manufacturers.

When it comes to shipping the products to my customers, I keep it plastic free. I use FSC certified cardboard boxes, paper tape, paper filling and handwritten thank you cards made of recycled paper. I ship to many countries worldwide so for countries where it is possible, I ship with a carbon neutral program to lower the carbon footprint.
