Kin and Kind is Clean, Unique, and Cultured

I spent over fifteen years in the fashion industry as a merchandiser and buyer, then later studied textile design at Otis College of Art and Design. I love to travel and have a particular interest in ancient and indigenous cultures. Through our brand, I get opportunities to explore the globe and buy directly from makers. I like to think of it as the ultimate treasure hunt.
Kin and Kind pays homage to craft and celebrates the imperfect and unique qualities of handmade goods. We feature one-of-a-kind accessories, textiles, and home decor from modern makers, and covet-worthy heirlooms sourced from abroad. We take inspiration from the artisan tradition with a thoughtful selection of handmade and curated goods cleanly edited for those seeking something unique.
The name Kin and Kind came out of my love for textiles. In my studies, I came to see that so many handicrafts from around the world had a through line, a kinship if you will. I started conceiving of this idea to combine different goods from different cultures with those from emerging designers to create the perfect mix. I wanted everything, no matter the price point, to feel special and something to be cherished.
I really strive to keep our assortment like none other you will find anywhere else, and to bring our customers items and brands they’ve never know about. I suppose that’s part of my fashion background, the idea of ever evolving the offerings. My favorite thing to hear from customers is that they love everything in the shop.
That’s a tough one, but I think this Berber Shawl that I found in Marrakesh. It literally took my breath away when I saw it.
