Vegan, Non-Toxic, and Eco-Conscious Condoms Empowering Young People to Take Charge of Their Sexual Health
Bec Park, Samantha Eades, and Bec Villanti, Founders of Jonny
Jonny is founded by 3 creative women from Melbourne, Australia; Bec Park, Samantha Eades and Bec Villanti. Bec Park and Sam reside in Melbourne, however as of recently Bec Villanti now calls Brooklyn, New York home.
As individuals outside of Jonny, Bec P spends her days as an inspiring business mentor, is the mum of a wonderful 16-year old young woman and has had an incredible career leading up the marketing teams of some amazing companies such as Tag Heuer (Australia/NZ). Sam has her own booming interior design business based in Melbourne and Hong Kong, is fuelled by beautiful food, mindful living and has a powerful way of creating meaningful connections with others. Bec V, lover of food and wine, is Director of Events for a hospitality group in New York and is happiest when she is around people, dancing in her kitchen, learning trials and tribulations of the world, and experiencing new corners of the globe.
A mutual love for creativity, doing things differently and finding a joint mission in creating social change through Jonny is what brought us all together.
Jonny is all about smashing taboos. A vegan-friendly, non-toxic eco-conscious brand of condoms on a mission to normalize the use of condoms amongst young women and men. Jonny wants to change the conversation from one steeped in shame and awkwardness to one that is loud and proud.
Jonny formed as an idea in the beginning of 2016, with a huge 'light-bulb moment' that the current condom market in Australia was very stuck in old traditions and thinking; in its branding, marketing positioning and even the product itself. There was no condom in the market that strived for change, spoke to women, let alone spoke to us and we set out to change that. We wanted to create a condom brand that we ourselves as three women would be comfortable to use, proud to carry and had a conscious backbone wherever possible. We have had A LOT of fun along the way, it's hilarious how many puns and jokes naturally slip out during our round table chats at Jonny HQ.
Jonny is on a mission to create social change for future generations; to empower young people to take charge of their sexual health and be proud to do it; to have the hard conversations and eventually make them easy ones. We strive to create a brand voice that is unique, a humanised brand that speaks to its audience on a level that people can relate to do connect with. We also wanted to create a conscious brand, so Jonny gives $1 back per pack for every purchase through our website, to three female and children focused charities through a platform in Australia called I Equal Change.
In the early days of product and brand development, we collectively decided that we wanted Jonny to be as sustainably minded, conscious and have as small of a footprint on the Earth as possible.
Jonny condoms are natural latex condoms, so do come from the rubber plant. Unfortunately, to make the latex durable, it must be treated and therefore is no longer biodegradable. So we decided we would offset this by being as eco-conscious wherever else possible. Through product manufacturer and packaging research, we found a vegan and non-toxic (you can read all about this in our website FUQs) condom as well as a supplier for our beautiful matte packaging that is PEFC certified, so grown from sustainable forests.
Jonny also comes paired with FabLittleBag, a 30% organic, biodegradable little bag that we introduced to promote conscious ocean-friendly disposal – you would be surprised just how many people still flush condoms down the toilet! Last (for now), but certainly not least, our mailer bags are also 100% recycled paper.
