Fair Trade USA is a nonprofit organization and the leading certifier of fair trade products in North America. Its trusted Fair Trade Certified™ seal on a product signifies that it was made according to rigorous fair trade standards that promote sustainable livelihoods and safe working conditions, protection of the environment, and strong, transparent supply chains. Instead of creating dependency on aid, the fair trade model empowers farmers, workers, and fishermen to fight poverty and earn additional money to improve their communities.

Until the fair trade apparel program was launched nearly a decade ago, shoppers had no real way of knowing the conditions under which their clothes were made. Now we are empowered to buy clothes with the label and know that we’re helping create sustainable livelihoods, safer working conditions, and desperately-needed transparency in the fashion industry.

The We Wear Fair Trade campaign honors the Rana Plaza garment factory collapse in Bangladesh that killed 1,134 people.  Each image showcases an array of Fair Trade USA brand partners -- Athleta, Aventura, Ecoths, J.Crew, Madewell, Obey Clothing, Outerknown, Patagonia -- in an effort to raise awareness about the growing collection of fair trade apparel while showcasing the stories of the producers behind the clothes themselves.
