A Look Into A Productive Morning

Are you a morning person? I can’t even tell you how much I am. I live for mornings! Most people probably hate how much I love them, but sorry people I just can’t stop myself!


My ideal day is waking up around 8 am, eating a really breakfast first thing, and getting a good sweat on. Now because I work a full-time job, I don’t work out in the mornings. If I could be a super early morning person, I would be but I pride myself on getting those full 8-9 hours of sleep every night so I choose to work out after work (but if I had the choice I would go to the gym in the mornings). I also pride myself on the morning routine I’ve created for myself over the past few years and today I wanted to take you through just that, and my 3 tips on how to become a morning person!

 

*THIS IS MY WEEK DAY ROUTINE!*

 

6:30 AM: WAKE UP TIME

The first thing I do when I get up is meditate. This is super new for me still, I've only being doing it for about 2 months now. I mediate twice a day; before I get up for the day, and right before I go to sleep. I use an app called Zen; it lets you choose meditations based on how you’re feeling, so they have specially designed audios for when you’re feeling anxious, or sad, or when you can’t get to sleep. It’s really been helping me just practice my breathing and I find I've become more aware of how my body is feeling overall, which I really like so i’m going to keep using it for sure.

 

TIP #1

I recommend giving yourself roughly five minutes in the morning before you get up and going for the day to do something for yourself. Whether that’s journaling, doing some light stretching, breathing techniques, saying positive affirmations out loud, WHATEVER it is. It helps to set your mood for the day, and honestly gives me a bit of energy and motivation to want to start my day.

 

Then I get up from bed, do a couple of shoulder stretches because I sleep on my sides a lot throughout the night. Then I head to the bathroom to pee, and wash my face. I head back to my room to make my bed, clean up my room a bit, and then i’ll head downstairs to start making my breakfast and lunch for that day.

7:00 AM: BREAKFAST AND LUNCH

This is when I make my breakfast and the lunch I am bringing to work that day. I bring a bagged lunch every day because A) I am trying to eat better and B) your girl is trying to save her money. I usually bring some sort of leftovers from the dinner before, or a soup, along with a spinach salad with cucumbers and some sort of fruit like blueberries or strawberries. I put that with half an avocado and a squeeze of lemon as my dressing (check out my post ‘What I Eat In A Day’ for all my fave go-to meals). Then I make my breakfast.


TIP #2

What’s your favourite thing to eat for breakfast? I love eggs, cooked any style, with avocado and some sort of fruit. I look forward to making my breakfast every day because I know I'm going to enjoy it. So that’s my tip, make something you know you’re going to enjoy, and it will put you in a good mood (I mean who doesn’t love food?)!



7:20 AM: EATING & WATCHING

When I eat my breakfast, I like to watch something. I’m usually by myself and I’m usually bored. I don’t like scrolling through my Insta feed because I already have to look at social feeds all day as a social media manager. I like to keep myself occupied with something else, even if it’s just for a few minutes; I’ll usually watch a YouTube video, or some of the news to check the weather and traffic. After I finish, I head upstairs to get my makeup on.



7:40 AM: MAKEUP AND GETTING DRESSED

TIP #3

I usually pick my outfit the night before, so I have that already laid out. This saves me SO much time in the morning, I can’t even tell you. My brain barely functions in the morning, so trying to pick out a cute outfit just takes forever.


It takes me about 10 minutes to do my makeup and I pretty much do the same thing every day for work. Then I’ll get dressed. I usually watch Netflix because I’m in my room now and my laptop is just nearby.

7:55 AM: START THE CAR..

Because it’s the dead of winter right now where I live, I have to start my car at least like 10 minutes before I leave my house. So after I get dressed, I’ll get my coat on and start it. While it’s warming up, I’ll brush my teeth, spray some perfume, and make sure I have my laptop and phone.


8:05 AM: AND WE’RE OFF

I start work at 8:30 AM and I live about 15-20 minutes away!


Mornings aren't for everyone and I totally get that! But with a little bit of effort, you can create a routine that best suits you! Hopefully you can benefit from taking a look into my morning routine!
